On The Waterfront

This expansive family space features a back-to-back sofa, so guests can either watch television or look out on the river. A low daybed provides a comfortable spot for lounging, while keeping an open view.

The daybed features a nail trim detail. Pillows are fabricated in the daybed pattern in reverse. A small raffia-covered side table provides a resting place for drinks or reading materials.

At the opposite end of the family room, a television is mounted over an antique sideboard. A pair of swivel chairs can swivel to face the TV or sofa. The sisal rug incorporates a blue diamond weave.

The kids’ rooms include built-in beds with an additional bed each for slumber parties. Since the rooms are mirror-images of one another they are dressed in the same wallpaper and bedding; one in blue, and the other in pink.

Both kids’ rooms feature built-in shelving for open storage and plenty of drawers beneath for clothing storage.

The built-ins include convenient cubbies for shoe storage and hooks for hanging bags. Each room’s window is dressed with a woven wood shade in white, trimmed with fabric to match the wallpaper.

The built-in dresser between each bed serves as a convenient surface for play. Each bed is equipped with its own nickel wall sconce.

The kids’ bath features a floating natural wood vanity with a double vessel sink. A large format ceramic tile is installed on the walls, capped with a chair rail. A pair of white sconces flank a large custom mirror.

The top “drawer” of the petite nightstands functions as a pull-out with additional surface area. Niches in the bed accommodate baskets for additional storage.

This stunning guest bath features cabinetry and trim painted a deep slate gray. The linen cabinet features open storage for towels, and doors with nickel wire mesh. A dark herringbone mosaic tile is installed on the floor, and the tub surround is tiled in a white subway tile.

One of the most stunning spaces is this guest bedroom, which features a tall lofted ceiling. A beautiful honey-toned antique armoire blends seamlessly with the gold tones throughout the space. The bed features a custom canopy and goldenrod linen bedding.

The guest canopy bed is dressed with a custom canopy and matching box-pleat bedskirt. At the foot of the bed sits a settee overlooking the water. The white drapery panels are accented with a yellow tape trim to match the wall color.

The yellow linen bedding is accented with white trim.

The distressed gray-blue chest provides extra storage for guests. It is accented with antique pottery and samplers.

The en suite bathroom blends seamlessly with the adjacent bedroom, with more gold tones echoed on the ceramic floor tile and pencil liner in the shower enclosure.

The open family room features a custom sofa in a floral fabric on cream with a bench cushion in a coordinating texture. A pair of modern cane chairs upholstered in gold sit across from a pair of chaises. The white branch chandelier is by Wish Designs. The area rug is a custom wool contoured to the space.

A niche in the family room houses a console table behind the pair of chaises. A pair of white glazed lamps flank a framed quilt. The large coffee table is by Hickory Chair.

Since the home is nestled by the river, the fireplace surround is fittingly composed of a pebble mosaic tile. A custom artwork above the mantel depicts the Maryland blue crab. Blues and golds are incorporated throughout for a complementary palette. Sheer drapery panels keep the space light and airy.

The kitchen, dining, and family room spaces are all open to one another. This rustic table comfortably seats ten. The twig chandeliers echo the one over the adjacent seating area, and a generous curio cabinet displays a collection of vintage yellow ware and majolica.

The dining table is set for a crowd with natural elements to compliment the decor. Rattan place mats by Matahari echo the woven dining chairs. Natural linen napkins in a yellow and white stripe offset blue and white china. Hand-painted stemmed wine glasses finish the look.

Instead of doors, the kitchen lower cabinetry features panels in a small check. The walls are tiled to the ceiling in a white subway tile, and parsons shelves provide open storage. Countertops are in a dark soapstone.

The homeowners are avid cyclists and, as such, this was commemorated with some artwork in the open front hall.

The stairwell is adorned with a rustic driftwood pendant, which feels at home on the waterfront.

Since the clients spend summers in the home they very much enjoy this screened porch off the master suite. It is outfitted with deep cushioned benches deep enough for afternoon naps. The ceiling is painted a light blue to imitate the open sky.
