LIVING CORAL

Each year, Pantone releases a “Color of the Year” and this year I am all about what they chose… Living Coral!  FINALLY, coral is having its moment.  For anyone who knows me, coral has been a constant in my work over the years.  It’s not orange and it’s not pink- the perfect hybrid color that can be harder than you think to find.  From accessories to my nail color (Butter London’s Jolly Good for those who are curious), there is no shortage of coral in my life.  Per Pantone’s website, Living Coral is “sociable and spirited… symbolizing our innate need for optimism and joyful pursuits.”  This year, I have A LOT of joyful pursuits I am focusing on and I’m sure the coral color will not be skimped on.

Pantone’s site goes on to say Living Coral is representative of our modern life.  As technology and social media have more of an influence on our daily lives, we as humans are craving that intimate connection with something greater than, let’s say, our Instagram feed.  We’re looking to nature and the people around us to fill that void technology will never replace.  The color coral can be found in nature all around us and this color has a way of pulling us out of our digital lives, allowing us to focus on the present moment and what’s real around us.  While most of us can’t totally give up our phones (Hello, I own a business here!) the color Living Coral reminds us to keep that balance.

In this living room, the coral is paired with a soft green and it is nothing short of elegance. We even painted the interior of these cabinets a shade of this soft coral.

There is also something special about this color in that Living Coral is bright and vibrant, but at the same time cool and tranquil, making it the perfect color to utilize in a bedroom.  Check out these cool and collected bedroom spaces below.
